I received a comment recently on a YouTube video that kicked my creative process off, so I’m here with a blog for you! In “How to get Started Streaming on Twitch,” I recommended a $100 microphone as a decent entry level microphone. The commenter scoffed that this could be considered affordable for beginners.
And you know what? That’s fair enough. When you’re getting started streaming it’s easy to find yourself looking at a long shopping list. A $100 mic is only one extra piece of equipment you need, and all these peripherals can start to add up fast.
Which begs the question: what is an affordable entry level mic for new streamers and content creators?
Enter FIFINE. Serendipitously, this microphone company reached out recently and offered to send me a very cute mic to review (affiliate links to the microphone will follow in this blog!)
So let’s take a look at the FIFINE A6T USB microphone!
I’m very excited because this microphone comes in a soft powder pink color; perfect for all you aesthetic gamer femmes!
The price point: $55! Much gentler on the pocket, especially considering this mic comes packed with some helpful accessories.
Lets take a look at this microphone’s specs:
- quick mute button
- gain control knob
- plug & play USB port microphone
- RGB lights
- compatible with PC, Mac & PS4/5
- cardioid condenser mic
- includes: boom arm, shock mount & pop filter
When unboxing this microphone, I was pleasantly surprised at how cute and sturdy it is! Typically you only get one or the other when it comes to gamer gear. The A6T feels solid in your hands, comes equipped with its own shock mount, boom arm and pop filter! It adjusts easily to reach across your desk and angle towards your mouth. And its constructed well enough that you’re not afraid you’ll break it by trying to reposition it.
The included boom arm has a reach of about three feet. I was even able to wrap some artificial flowers around it to serve a bit of cottage core aesthetic.
The cutest pop filter I’ve ever seen in my life comes with this mic, too! Soft edges, and a (dare I say it) kawaii smiley face printed on the mesh combine so you can feel adorable AND protected from plosives in your speech as you rapid fire react to gameplay and chat during your streams.
The A6T microphone has a very cool rotational RGB gradient light on the grille that adds a pop of color to your desk. Even when I’m not actively using the mic, I like to keep its lights on because the soft ambience is quite relaxing.
The RGB lights toggle on and off with the touch of your finger, which leads us to our next feature: the push to mute option. Functioning more like a touch lamp than an actual button, you can mute and unmute the A6T with a gentle tap on the top of the microphone. You can tell if the mic is muted because the RGB lights will switch off. It’s pretty responsive, reacting best when you touch the center point. This also helps guard against accidental muting or unmuting.
You can also easily control the input volume with the gain control knob at the bottom of the mic, which is so seamlessly designed that I didn’t even realize it was a gain control knob when I first set the microphone up!
The overall performance of the A6T mic passed all my vibe checks, especially considering this is such a budget friendly choice. It doesn’t pick up much background noise, I didn’t notice any static or humming, and my voice sounded crisp and clear!
Here’s an unedited test recording, so you can hear for yourself:
I like this mic enough that I’ve permanently set it up alongside my Shure SM7B as a companion mic for my ASMR content. It will also help out when I have guests over to record, like when my sister helps out with my true crime content!
I recommend this mic as a sturdy entry level mic for beginner streamers. Especially those of you that identify as gamer girls, and want a nice pop of pink for your setup! Its a super cute piece of hardware that serves function AND fashion. All for a budget friendly price that leaves you with some ice coffee money in your piggy bank!
Super cute mic!! Will def be keeping this in my back pocket in case I ever have any issues with my current one
Thank you so much for the review! It really helped me decide which mic should i buy, i want the best input quality possible for calls/gaming, i don´t plan to stream soon, but i think it´d be a nice option to begin the road with!
